Reflective

So what have I done in the last decade? A whole lot!

1. I graduated high school in 2002.
2. Began college in the spring of 2003, found out I was pregnant that same season, and got married in the summer of 2003.
3. Had my first baby in 2004. I became a mom and was so frightened.
4. Worked hard in college, and found out I was pregnant again in 2006. More excited that time around due to the experience.
5. Had a hard time in the current major, and withdrew from classes. Had my second daughter in the spring of 2007 and changed my major.
6. Finished school (FINALLY) in 2008 after much work and travel, and with two kids.
7. Got hired at my first full-time job (that has vacation days and some benefits!) in the fall of 2008, and it has truly been a blessing to me! I don't see myself leaving on my own accord anytime soon.
8. I saw my firstborn daughter get on a school bus for her first day of Kindergarten, and my heart hurt a little. Not being able to see her all day and not knowing all that she does in her class makes it hard to let go...but I know it must be done.

So, what will I do in the next decade? Who knows! I don't think I want to have anymore children, I've come to terms with it. I'm blessed abundantly with two beautiful girls who make me happy. I would eventually like to buy a house this decade, but that all depends on how much debt we get paid off.

For the upcoming year, however, I have a few goals in mind:
1. Lose weight. I say this every year, but this year has to be different. I'm worried about my health, and I know my weight has a lot to do with it. I will take it a few pounds at a time. Eventually, I want to get down to 125, but instead of looking at the 50+ weight loss over the long term, I will look at losing the first 5 pounds, and go from there. Five pounds doesn't seem as daunting to me.

2. Get finances in order. I want to get as much debt paid off as possible and stay away from those credit cards. I've been doing well at not using the credit cards for several months, and I don't miss them. I also want to tithe completely my ten percent.

3. Work on being more patient, loving, and kind. I want to work on my spirituality and helping people more. And, I really need to stop gossiping, which is too easy to do in our workplace.

So that's it! We'll see how 2010 goes! Happy New Year!
